Apple Headquarters.

For quite some time now for those of you who know me, know that I have been a long time avid apple user. One of my long time dreams has always been to actually go to their main headquarters in Cupertino, CA. This past week I did exactly just that. I took advantage of the fact that some clients rescheduled on me after I had flown from Miami all the way down to San jose California. So I input on my garmin and saw that I was maybe an hour away! And what did I do? I went to Apple.
This trip was all that and then some. Although I tried to get inside the facility but was unsuccessful I was able to go inside their exclusive company store where they have selective items that only is sold on the campus. To make this trip even more interesting I toured around the back side of the campus and did not know i wasn’t supposed to be there. In essence I was inside the facility but not quite. Oh well it was all worth it. As i was heading out I noticed what i thought was steve jobs car. The reason i know it was his car was because his license plate has been stolen so many times and he just about had it. He got approval from the city to actually put a bar code on his car since he had already had previous stolen license plates. Although this was the extent of my trip to Apple. I decided to continue my venture and headed over to San francisco where I did some good site seeing.
27" Wide display, simply gorgeous.

My 27" inch display finally came in and it is all of that and then some. I wanted another monitor but did not know which way to go. I wanted something big that would display true colors. The mac displays are nice and all but I also was not ready to spend three grand on a 31 inch display. So i went with dell, they had exactly what I was looking for and for a little less than half the price. This is a big change form the old samsung that the "Ex-factor" managed to snagged from me (hope you enjoy that by the way). I definitely recommend this monitor for anyone that wants true colors and possibly a small TV replacement, and for those of you that gaming is the only thing you do on the PC, this monitor will apply to you as well.
iphone-Touch webclips Icons

With the latest software update for the iPhone and iPod touch, users can now save webclips to their springboard(desktop). These act as a shortcut to a website. Now, the iphone/touch will remember exactly the crop and zoom that you saved and will create an icon automatically but the icon is not always the most desired visual representation of the site. For example, if I want a webclip of CNN’s latest news, it will show a screenshot of the news, not a CNN icon. And if I zoom into the icon just for the logo and then save the webclip, when i click on the webclip it will take me to the zoom in of the icon and not the news. Fortunately, the iPhone/Touch can use a predetermined icon provided by the website. Here’s how to create a custom webclip icon for the the iPhone/iPod Touch. Save your 57×57px icon as a PNG, name it “apple-touch-icon.png” and upload to the root folder of your site files(where you index file is). The iPhone/Touch will automatically look for it here. It will also automatically round the edges and make give it that gloss look so you don’t need to worry about that. If you want to name it differently, or place the file somewhere else, you need to specify it in the html file as a header item like this
Viddler video feed take one!
I came across viddler after following the video feeds in TUAW. just a quick post in testing this out.
Typing Lovely...

I so had to have one. Although I did end up getting the wired one instead of the smaller wireless one because I am tired of recharging/replacing batteries on my old bluetooth keyboard. Having that said, my heart is still set with the smaller one. I can only hope my kids have another liquid spill on their keyboard forcing me to pass on this one to them and get a new wireless one for me. Oh, Apple, why do you do this to me? You make such pretty things.
Macworld 2008

Well, macworld just ended and truth of the matter is that some of us were please and others weren't. With Steve jobs keynote as he always delivers, some predicted the rumor the of Macbook Air and a lot of us predicted the itunes movie rentals. I'm very glad that Apple did not forget about the apple tv. For some of us including myself in that bunch we thought the apple tv was doomed as we knew it. What else could of possibly be done with this product that was practically rushed out the door. Well as we know now were going to be able to rent movies online independently without having to use our macs that is unless we want to transfer them to other devices. Thats pretty neat, Pretty innovative if you ask me.
As far as the Macbook Air is concerned it looks like a very nice machine thin as all hell and if your on the go all the time and need a machine thats light weight well then i guess it a go for you. I personally need a machine with a dvd drive and firewire ports. Im usually never on the go except for when i take family trips so i guess i will be passing on that. And the option to go with a SSD drive is just not going to be very affordable for that per say. Thats if you only have the extra $1,300 Dollars to pay it with.
So what is apple up to next what are we going to see in the spring, where they usually have their meeting and only invite the media and some VIP bloggers and special guest. Remember last year was the introduction of the new imac's and the keyboards we currently have now. Are we going to see a new sixteen gig iphone since the SDK kits are going to be distributed out to programmers? Or are we going to see new Products coming out again. I don't know but I'm excited as I usually am about this great company we have grown to love and follow.
